Buy Right Pet-Friendly Furniture
I can’t stress this enough: Stain-resistant fabrics are the name of the game when it comes to buying upholstered furniture or upholstered sets. If you share your couches and chairs with pets, it’s not just the hair and dander you need to watch out for. Unpleasant odors and unwanted stains can also infiltrate certain fabrics and turn Sunday afternoons into an unpleasant (and smelly) experience.
When shopping for pet furniture, be sure to avoid velvet, silk, and tweed, as these fabrics are prone to stains and scratches. Instead, opt for furniture made of synthetic microfiber, leather and “outdoor” fabrics like Sunbrella. Remember that most furniture manufacturers will tell you which fabrics are stain resistant. Also, when choosing a sofa, avoid light colors, as stains are more likely on white or beige furniture.
Get Trash Cans With Lids

Low bins should be avoided, especially in the pantry, kitchen and bathroom. When choosing a bin, make sure it is sturdy and secure. If possible, place the bin in a locked pantry or behind a kitchen cabinet so your pet cannot spill it.
Store Your Medications in a Safe Place
The last thing you want is for your sweet fur to get to your medications or vitamins. Many, if not most, of these pills can be deadly to animals.
